Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Francisco, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

DragonEats is a no-frills shop with no seating that serves up a tight, focused menu of Vietnamese offerings, with a clear emphasis on banh mis and bΓΊn. I know they have salads, rolls and even pho on the menu, but I came specifically for the banh mi and went with the classic roast pork. The banh mis here are on the pricier side at $11 to $13 depending on which one you order, especially given the location near the Tenderloin and all the other delicious, cheaper options nearby. That said, I did find the flavors to be very good. The roast pork was seasoned and cooked really well, and the sandwich was absolutely bursting with pickled vegetables, jalapeΓ±o, cilantro, and pate. Big shoutout to the team for offering extra of literally anything in the sandwich besides the protein for free, which definitely helps justify the higher price. The portion is huge as a result, and you could easily split a half sandwich and a small soup for lunch and be set. The bread is sturdy, with a nice crust on the outside that does not cut into the roof of your mouth, while the inside is super fluffy and soaks up all the pate and sauce beautifully. I added a small side of broth, which I was expecting to be a

Very quick and delicious! Got a teriyaki tofu bowl which was YUM. If you are vegetarian make sure to ask for soy sauce as a replacement instead of fish sauce. Highly recommend! Note: has peanuts in it in case anyone is allergic. But looked like it was just a topping so could ask for it without

Best Banh Mi I've had. We ordered the roasted duck and assorted meats, there was twice as much meat than the usual sandwhich and super tasty. Great value!

We ordered roasted pork and roasted duck sandwiches. They both are very tasty and have signature pastes. The buns are well toasted and just have enough crunchiness. The rolls are also good, very fresh. Highly recommended.

Wonderful take out restaurant with a tiny space that has a few high chairs to eat on the premises. Two basic foods done extremely well; ban mi and salad bowls!! We had a 5 spiced chicken salad bowl and the spicy pork ban mi and both were exceptional and tasty. Total cost was $22! So if you want a quick and cheap bite, look no further as this is the place!
